I've got a student who is machine knitting some accessories, and while I can machine knit - I would not call myself a machine knitter.
Can any one point me or her in the direction of a stretchy bind off that can be done on a machine ?
please?

I don't spend nearly enough time knitting. I don't have nearly enough yarn stashed for the future. My knit to frog ratio is around 2:1 and on show here www.Knitknitfrog.blogspot.com
where I even video my knitting!

I was actually asking for Lilly - as it would be nice if her mitts and gloves and scarf had faced knit in hems top and bottom - but i never thought to ask you!

I don't think you scared them off, I've never ventured into the machine knitting bit before so am unsure how active it is - still I would have thought some one would respond. There is a new site - Ravelry - which is taking a lot of traffic away from here - but it has a waiting list. If you are a knitter with home internet - you may want to sign up for after collections, and if you are into hand knitting - i've got a few knitting groups around town to escape to and discuss knitty things - after collections if you want.

About the stretchy bind off: Set up for regular latch tool bind off. Instead of using the gate peg NEXT to the needle, go one gate peg to the RIGHT (when binding off right to left) and one gate peg to the LEFT when binding off Left to Right. This makes a nice stretchy bind off good for over the head sweaters. Marvma
