I am picking up stitches along the centre front to make my button stand. I knit 4 rows and then move a stitch from one needle to the next every 9 needles or so to make the button hole, and knit 8 rows, move the stitches inline with the previous holes onto the next needle and knit another 4 rows. I fold the button stand in half and pick up the stitches of the first row of the button stand and place them on the needles with the last row of stitches (hope this is not too confusing). This is the neatest form of a button hole but find that the double layer moves around. I could hand stitch around both holes to keep them in place (like a blanket stitch) but wonder if someone has a better idea. I'm trying to do as much of the construction using the knitting machine as possible. Thanks K
