I added it to my Amazon.com wishlist!! I would love to get it for my birthday but I dno't have the funds to buy it and my family said that they would consider it for Christmas. AHHH I don't think I can wait that long!
At Stitch n beach here in Chicago someone is already making the Monkey Backpack and it is so so cute :)
The book is definately worth the $$ and is *WAY BETTER* than that Lily Chin book from a few years ago. It doesn't even compare. Better art direction, better writing, plus Debbie S. is a master writer and if you've ever picked up Bust magazine you'd already know she's a great editor and publisher.

I am actually the one that made the bunny backpack for the book (not the pattern, the actual backpack pictured). Let me tell you, it was a ton of fun making it. Deb Stoller is such an amazing wealth of knowledge for knitting. In our S-n-B group, she is known as the Stitch Doctor.
We have all been anxiously waiting for this book to come out.

Deb is actually coming to my LYS in November for a sort of book release party. It should be very exciting!

marnita,
Great job on the backpack! That is one of the project on my "To-Do" list. I also want to make the alien illusion scarf.

I just bought this book yesterday at my LBS (local book seller). I think it is a very smart book. I want to make the poncho and several other things. I was so happy I spied it on the shelf.
Would the backpack make a teen girl happy at Christmas? My teenage son's are no help in this area of girl likes and dislikes.
BTW- Note to S. Eliz, there is a great pattern in this book for "Pippy Longstockings"

Debbie was on the Today Show this past Friday and featured the backpack, my scarf(Coney Island Fireworks), the Pippi longsocks and other cool things from the book. It's all very exciting. Deb did an amazing job and I hope it's a bestseller.
Take care, Ellen

Do you have to be named Debbie to be a successful knit designer? Debbie Bliss, Debbie Ware, Debbie Abraham, Debbie Stoller.

I love the Knitting Types in this book. After looking them over I decided that I am a 'Hurts So Good' Knitter. It describes me perfectly!! :)

Oh No !!! Sounds like this is another book to put on my Xmas wishlist. Might need a new bookcase as well. The project descriptions are definitely groovy.

I just got one, my lovely hubby let me have the whole room at the top of the landing for my sewing/ knitting stuff. Now he just wants me to unload my stash of yarns and fabrics from his office ....

I got the book!! Early birthday present! This rocks so hardcore:) I'm working on Zeeby's Bag (I think that's what it is...pg 170 in the book) right now, and will probably do a Monkay Backpack after :) There are so many great patterns I love too and am anxious to start - I will probably make an Alien Illusion scarf for myself after Christmas :)

I would like to get the Knit Stitch book and now after reading other's wish list, The Stitch n beach book. Also, a needle in evey size. I didn't realize how expensive this hobby was going to be when I got started, but I love it. I just hide all the receipts from my DH.

The book is also making some waves in the library world. A direct quote from a library friend in TX: "Have you seen the cover of the latest Library Journal. It has the author of "stitch n beach" as a must read for fall." And we do know librarians like me love to knit!

Deb now has a blog for the book over at: http://www.knithappens.com
There's info on her book tour, a peek into the book, she'll be adding pictures people send in of what they've made and more stuff to come.
So check back often. This is one of the more exciting things to happen in the knitting world lately.
Take care, Ellen

I checked into the site and it's quite well done. Some of the projects really strike my fancy (as if I need more projects!!)...others made me wonder if, maybe...if...I gave the book to my DD for Xmas, she might reconsider and take up knitting??

That might work.
My local bookstore (where I stopped to pick up fun non-knitting books today) apparently overstocked this one-- and they were available at 50% off!!! So I had to just cave and buy one... it's lovely. Especially the sweaters--
I'm not a big fan of "trendy" books, but I *do* like that there seem to be more patterns that focus on vertical lines and are very flattering. I've seen other books that seem to focus a specific technique-- sometimes at a loss of what would look good on certain bodies. So I adore them, but won't make them. LOL.
You might consider a copy for the DD- and if she doesn't like it, it'll be yours... :)
