the socks are beautiful! the colors work really well together. I liked the b&w pic of your sister with the socks in full color. The socks go well with those high heels too! :) great blog! I'll be stopping by more often. :)

Wow! Cool way to show them off in that photo!! They're awesome!
Do you remember where you found the free pattern for those fingerless mitts? Gosh, those are just fantastic! I'd love to work up some of those for my cousin who works in a cold hospital! Could you direct me if possible, pretty please?

Here is the original pattern for the fingerless mitts: http://www.straw.com/cpy/patterns/mikado-gloves.html
And like I said in the blog entry, I modified it so they are shorter and used a heavier weight yarn (I think I just used Cascade 220). I hope you make them, I love them for keeping my hands warm in my freezing-cold office! Good luck!

The black and white photo with the color socks was a bit of photoshop magic that my husband learned in a class. I don't want to bore everyone with the gory details but if you truly want to know — PM me and I will give you step-by-step directions.
Thanks for all the compliments on the socks guys! They were my sister's first pair of handmade socks and she says they are the most comfortable socks ever. So rewarding!

| I'll be your sister, too, any time you need another one! No one else in my family does any handwork....well, my mom sews clothes, but that's it. They've relied on me over the years to provide them with quilts, macrame, cross-stitch, hardangar, crochet and knitting. My mother's house is full of lovely things I've made, but somehow my house doesn't have as much! I quit giving so much away when I took up quilting (too expensive to give away) and now that I'm using all natural fibers to knit....they're pretty much staying home, too. |
