Your mother's work is absolutley gorgeous. I have been trying to learn hand embroidery over the past year. My mother did embroidery when I was a kid, but of course then I wasn't so interested to learn it. Last year, I saw some work that a friend and her sister did, and suddenly really wanted to learn. I will bookmark your mother's blog and use it for inspiration. Thanks for posting it.

Thank you :) I shall continue to update her blog. She recently held an exhibition in India & sold tons of her stuff. I actually bought a bunch off of her & brought it back with me to the US.

That's really beautiful! And your handspun yarn made the embroidery even more interesing and beautiful. Nice "family business"

Manasi, those pieces are gorgeous. I have been collecting information on artistic embroidery -- the kind of work people are doing, the materials they use. I love that she uses threads you spin. Does she use a hoop? Floor stand?

More comments! lovely :) RoBA, She uses a hoop (the size depends on the size of her work). For the work she did with my yarns, she didn't use any hoop. It was interesting how she prepared the base to take my yarns. The yarns don't intersect the cloth - they're basically woven in through stiches she placed at certain points. After that they were stretched & framed. The photos I took were before they were framed- hence the wrinkles.

| Dear Manasi, I love your yarns and I love your mother's embroidery and the wonderful way that she shows your yarns off. I have been thinking of her work ever since you first posted this topic and the link to your mother's blog. I am very inspired by the beautiful, playful originality and the deep love of nature in this excellent fiber ART. |

petiteflower, i've always looked up to my mother for inspiration. she has a special talent & genius which i don't believe i'll ever have :( however, she's promised that she'll use all the handspun yarn i can give her :)) if this weekend doesn't freeze my fingers off, i'll be taking some more photos of her work & updating her blog.
