I love this yarn! I'm taking a quick break from socks to whip up the silk garden beanie, and it's knitting up nice and quick.
I tried Noro once--I forget which line but it was a whopping $20 per hank and I hated it. It was like knitting with twine. This felt a little twine-y at first, and after I cast on I was afraid the stitches would split because they were a little thick. But I easily did knit the first couple of rounds, and just took off from there.
I'm doing the beanie in the same color on the pattern-84. But it's a lot darker than the photo-chocolate brown with dark red, some dep greens and even some pink. It'll look great with my red hair.
This could be a new favorite for me.

I've done a couple of blankets out of this yarn, and it is so fun to watch the colors change and come together.
Yes, it does not take a lot to amuse me. |

I made Clapotis from Silk Garden #84 and it is my favourite knitted item.

And it is fantasic for entrelac patterns. Many visitors here have made Lady Eleanor Stole (from Pam Allens Scarf Style book)using Silk Garden and they all look fantastic (mine included ;-)

6.5, but I do tend to use less yarn that the required amount for most things that I knit.
When I bought the wool, I thought I would need 8.

You can modify it, Celia. I made a silk garden mini-Clapotis with 3 skeins. I'm sure you could get quite a nice one with 4.
I'm doing those silk garden beanies too! Love them - so fast and easy. And when you're wearing it on your head you don't even feel the weird twigs silk garden seems to have.  |

I just bought a lot of 10 skeins in a beautiful brown combo - with which I plan to make a Lady Eleanor from scarf style. It will be my first attempt with entrelac - so hopefully my investment will pay off....
Can't wait...

I`ve never used Silk Garden, but I bought one single ball last week so I could think about it and knit a hat just to see if I liked it. Currently the ball is sitting on my bedside table...this is the prime spot for any yarn I`m mulling over using soon. (There`s some KSH there as well.) Very decorative!

| I love Silk Garden, the colors, the stripes, the gauge. I've knit two sweraters with it. Does anyone else find this yarn too scratchy to wear? I have to be sure to wear something under the entire sweater otherwise I go crazy from the scratchiness. |

I didn't really understand what the big fuss was over Noro Silk Garden until I recently stumbled on the Scarf Style KAL and saw a Lady Eleanor Entrelac Shawl in SG 87. It was absolutely fabulous!!!! I have had Scarf Style for quite some time now but have yet to make anything out of it. Guess what I'm chomping at the bit to make now--and out of SG no less? Entrelac looks difficult, especially since I've never done short rows and am having trouble visualizing the instructions in Scarf Style, but I'm always up for learning a new technique. This will be something I tackle after the new year.

Hmmm...did I really say I'd tackle this after the new year? I couldn't get over how gorgeous the Lady Eleanor stole was so during my Christmas errands yesterday, I stopped at the LYS and bought one skein of Noro SG #213 and stayed up until 2:30 a.m. teaching myself entrelac. I told myslef I was just "practice swatching" and learning how to do entrelac, but I'm already up to the second tier of rectangles in the Lady E pattern and it actually looks like it's supposed to look! I wonder if it is too late to add a bag of Sg #213 to my Christmas list?? I think I need professional help....

This is a personal fave of mine also. After I finish DH's cable sweater, I'm going to make a Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton shawl using SG. The tough part will be deciding which color!
