Amazing Threads was the first true yarn shop I ever visited! I'm a self-taught knitter and in my first year I thought Walmart was a yarn shop! At any rate, a knitter in the area or just visiting HAS to go to Amazing Threads: Great classes and workshops, marvelous selection and friendly service too. Check them out at

This is a very timely post, as the most recent newsletter talks about the beautiful Hudson Valley (admittedly a large area) without mentioning this wonderful store. The owners have great taste in yarn and designs, I think.
