| Does anyone know of a regulation Blaze/Hunter orange wool that will felt? My DH has asked for a felted hat for game hunting and I would love to make him one! I think I have found the color in Briggs and Little 2 ply - none of the Brown Sheep colors look neon enough. I also found a Bartlett that could work (if my monitor is close). I have never used either of these wools, much less felted with them. Any info will be wonderfully appreciated!! |

Bartlett markets that wool for hunting apparel, I believe. I've felted with the Rangeley wools and although I had to put the purse through a couple of cycles, it turned out very nice.
And on my monitor, that wool is WAAYYY orange. [:00]

Thanks! I popped into my LYS (Stitching Memories in Kalamazoo, and it is GREAAAT!) to look at the Brown Sheep and Cascade choices - both were not "neony" enough. I will probably order a skein of the Bartlett to see how it looks.

Barbara - the Vine St. neighborhood is so lovely! There is a great house in the Stuart neighborhood for sale that I have my eye on, too! I actually live in Mattawan now, but spend alot of time in Kazoo, as we have family there, and in Portage (my high school alma mater). Handweavers is also a wonderful shop!
Patricia - Thanks! I am ordering the Bartlett "Hunter Orange" today!

Valerie, about Handweavers -- I have a frequest buyers card there and at Stitching Memories and at Just Knit It, which is out on Gull Road. [:00]
If you get a chance to come up to Kalamazoo Valley Community College Nov. 17- Nov. 19 (Free Admission), the Weavers' Guild of Kalamazoo is having its annual Fiber Artists Sale/Exhibit. There is so much to see, do and buy!! Handspun yarn, clothing, home items, table linens, etc.. etc. Last year I bought a beautiful shawl and a huge knitting tote made from handwoven material.
And this year, I will have handwoven towels for sale.
