I was inspired by the GORGEOUS Namaste Glass Needles to think of buying some beautiful knitting needles for my MIL, an avid knitter, for Christmas. She only ever uses long straights (tucks them under her arm!), and doesn't like bulky yarn -- she just told my husband that the largest needles she uses regularly are a 6 (4 mm). So unfortunately, the smallest Namaste needles are an 8. But now I'm thinking rosewood...ebony... something exotic, handcrafted, and lovely, even if they aren't glass. Any suggestions of good places to try? What are the needles you've been lusting after?

| I love Lantern Moon needles, I think she would like those. I also remember an article Clara had a while back about someone who did handmade rosewood knitting needles, but I can't remember the name. You could probably search to find it. Good luck! |

Hasn't it? Kooky! Since my husband is Italian, we take off as soon as we've given our last exams and go visit his family for Christmas every year. He's from Sardinia, where the weather is usually just a little bit different from Vermont! Bring on the sunny days... the warm breezes... the walks on the beach...

Susanne's needles are very nice. I have some of the circulars and some of the DPNs. They are made from leftovers from piano fabrication, which i thought was very cool.
