I won a set of Takumi circs on e bay. As I have needed them, I have dipped them in hot (boiling) water and straightened them out and it worked just fine.
I have a size 3 that just won't cooperate! I have dunked it in boiling water I don't know how many times. As soon as it hits the water, it curls up on itself. I take it out of the water and pull it straight by both needle tips and it looks fine but when I let go, it curls up in a spiral again. AARRGGHH
What am I doing wrong? I actually did the 3 at the same time I did a 4 and 5 ( I was getting ready to swatch) and the 4 and 5 turned out just fine.

I boil a pot of water and hold the cord very taut over the steam. I do this for as long as necessary. I prefer this method, because I don't like to put my needles in water.

I don't put the needle tips into the water. I hold onto the tips and dunk the cable in the water. This one acts like it is afraid of water and curls up on itself. All the other ones have relaxed once they hit the water.

Is it smaller than your other ones? The cable may be made of something different than the larger ones. The only other trick I've done is to store them stretched striaght. I've put all of my clover circs (only 2 so it isn't as crazy as it sounds) into the couch. I steamed them then held them straight and slid them under the cushions. The weight of the cushion won't let them curl up on themselves and they are ready to use when I need them.

Oh good, I didn't think I was crazy until I actually typed it and then I thought I sounded a bitoff my rocker. Thanks for the reassurance that this doesn't make me crazy.

I do that too, just without the planning and forethought.

| I have also heard that hanging the cord up and putting a weight on the bottom straights cords up. Of course, you would have to be careful not to crimp the cord or put too much weight on it and it does take time to work. |
