Frankly, let's shake up this subject area a little with some new names. So far, I've liked just about everything Kate Gilbert has done--stylish, but not outlandish; a sense of fun; interesting construction techniques.

What do you think of her work? What do you think of other designers who are appearing regularly in places like Knitty?

I also like her stuff, of course the fabled clapotis that I haven't made yet ( am I the only one?). But I am working on her circle jacket from the Interweave web patterns. I read her blog as well. Connie

I tend to lbe drawn to her patterns. And much like Veronika Avery I can sense it is her work. There are distinct touches like a sense of whimsy with sophistication and amazing use of color that always signal it is a Kate Gilbert pattern.

The maternity sweater in IK Summer 2006 is a great example. The design itself is gorgeous with the side button feature. Not to mention the energizing color. And it uses short rows to prevent it riding up on the belly. The garment itself is fashionable, functional and looks ver comfortable.

As I have mentioned a billion times already, her use of color is always spot on. She understands the pattern as well as its color make it great. So seems to rely on bright colors that one wouldn't quite expect but that one realizes is the only color worth using. I have made several of her patterns and I find the directions clear and easy to follow.

Geez, have a babbled or what!!!

Designers don't always have a choice in colors. When a magazine/book/yarn company buys a pattern they get to pick the color and yarns. Most of the time anyway (there are always exceptions).

I really like Eunny Jang's knitting.I think she has released only one pattern but from seeing the knitting on her blog (when I get a chance to read) there are more great things to come.

I also really like "Girl from Auntie". I like the way she thinks. It's not a run of the mill pattern. Her thinking is off the beaten path and I like it.
