Here are my newly completed Anna Socks from Rowan 40. Another view; cuff detail; foot detail. I love the way this design juxtaposes the prim-and-proper with the slightly risque -- the lace recalls fishnet stockings, the velvet ribbon hints of garters.
A word of warning for anyone thinking of making these: the pattern as written provides no calf shaping (!) and will produce saggy baggy ankles. This is easily remedied by switching to a smaller needle size once past the full part of the calf.
The pattern calls for Rowan 4-Ply Soft and size 3 needles; I used Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock with size 2 needles, changing to size 1 at the lower calf. I also substituted my preferred heel and toe.
