so I just finished knitting a hat - 80% pima cotton and 20% wool
has a few colomns of lace running from bottom to top
can I or should I block it?

I always block my hats - I use a balloon which I balance on a vase. Works great. Sometimes I draw a face on the balloon just for fun.
