This forum has been quiet for a long time. I don't want to raise anybody's hackles or anything, so I will just say, on June 28, 2012: I am happy today.

Me, too!! I'm also happy that a lot of people want to move to Canada now (not so happy for the Canadians, though).

Flicka, I happy too. It hit 103 degrees yesterday. I'm not a summer kind of person but for some reason it help my arthritis. I woke saying thank you and telling the world I happy and I feel good. Donna

Oh, me, too. Isn't it ironic that those unhappy with the decision want to move to Canada? So long...let us know how it works out for you.

Interesting decision. Pretty sure we have not heard the end of it, yet. I definitely am tired of all the political commercials already. Want to stick my head in the sand until after the second week of November. (running around with hands over ears, screaming "blah, blah blah, I can't hear you!")

If it is about what I think it is about, we have had similar in Oz for so many years I can't remember - maybe 30 or more and it works so well that we always gaped in horror that the so modern and progressive USA did not have it.

Rand Paul has been in a snit about the ruling. “Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so,” Mr. Paul said in his written statement after the ruling. “The whole thing remains unconstitutional.” Uh, I hate to break it to you, Mr. Paul, but the Supreme Court's job is to rule on whether something is constitutional or not. I'm not a constitutional scholar (neither is he), but apparently he is unclear about the three branches of government. He also is calling for a revolt. Keep it classy, jerk-face!

It certainly was a very good decision. If we now only could fast forward to November. It is going to get ugly.

I sometimes wonder about the intelligence of our fellow citizens of Kentucky. Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell, from the same state!

Fox News can't get Mr. McConnell to answer the questions. I'll tell you why he thinks Obama's health care plan is a monstrosity: it has Obama's name attached to it.

AgnesGooch, you are so spot on and you made me laugh. And given that the estimated cost of repealing said decision would be around $3 billion, how does that fit in with less spending?????

And one wonders do they no longer teach Civics in school? Congress approved it; POTUS signed it and the Supreme Court ruled. The process of check and balance was followed, so, therefore, it IS constitutional. And if some of us have to live with a corporation being a person and allowing for all these ridiculous amounts of money being spent on these campaigns, then some can live with this particular decision.

I had no idea it was going to cost that much to repeal. These people really do want to cut off their noses to spite their faces.

It has been a long time since I was in school, but I took civics in high school. It was one of my favorite classes. I remember having a mock election campaign then. At the time Hubert Humphrey, Richard Nixon and George Wallace were running for president. The majority of the kids in the class were supporting George Wallace (I went to school in S.Carolina). I believe I was the only one in support of Nixon (what can I say? I was only in 8th grade at the time and didn't know any better.). I believe that was probably the only time I was in support of someone with an "R" next to their name.

I think nowadays a lot of the educational focus is on making sure they pass those tests (TAAS, TAKS, I'm not sure what it is called here in Texas). I think a lot of kids these days don't have any analytical skills. They just "learn" enough to pass the exit exam. So sad.

Oh, Agnes Gooch, fabulous profanity. I am going to have to steal that word.

I almost melted with relief when I heard this verdict. It gives me hope. Didn't a major Republican vote in favor of it? I was so sure it was going to be a repeat of Citizens United. Corporations should have free speech. Bah!

:: Perhaps you mean Chief Justice Roberts. He was appointed to the bench by President George W. Bush and is very conservative. He was the swing vote in this instance, surprising many people.

Speaking of ass-hats (thank you, agnesgooch), Chris Collins, a GOP nominee for Congress, maintains that we don't need "Obamacare" because nobody dies of breast or prostate cancer anymore.
