Just starting to knit a bit as wife knits a lot and so I'm looking at odd house/toy/quirky simple items to knit occasionally - a bit more than a basic square!

Hi Bagsy,
Welcome from the Bronx. When I am trying to learn new techniques, I like to borrow several books from my library and later maybe buy the one I like.
There are many free toy and home accessory patterns on www.ravelry.com. It is a member site, free to join and KR has a group on there too. You can look at projects made in your preferred patterns and read notes from members who have completed the projects. Good luck and come on here and ask for help too.

I download knitting ebooks from my library. If you can set that up, it is really worth it. There are five library toy ebooks ready for instant downloading right now.
