This pattern can be found in Interweave Knits, Fall 2008.

What I can't find are the rings. I even wrote to the designer months ago over at Ravelry and didn't get a response! Anyone have any ideas? Or does someone here know the designer to let her know she has mail waiting at Ravelry?

They almost look like curtain/napkin rings. Did you check Joanns?

I think I bought some online when I made my Dumpling a few years ago. I just googled and found that Boye makes them in 1", 1.5", and 2" sizes. Here's one example:
