Could anyone tell me how to put photos of my work *somewhere* out there so that I can link them to my posts? I would love to show "work-in-progress" and "finished projects". Seems a photo could explain SOOOOO much better than a thousand words when it comes to explaining a stitch, a pattern, or a problem.

I use http://photobucket.com/
It's pretty easy to load pictures up to it- and they give you html code for posting them, or a link to send people too. And it's free.

Thanks everyone! I looked at all the different suggestions and decided to go with photobucket because it looked the easiest (and Jenny seemed to have no problem with it). I was able to get an account and even got a couple of pictures in the files and then I discovered my NEXT problem. *sigh
ONE of the pictures is WAY too large to easily be shared and I need to downsize it. Trouble is we had to use our "recover disc" recently and one of the things I forgot to save was my free photo cropping program. I can't remember where I got it. I tried a few sites I found online but I must be doing something wrong as I just can't get them to work with my camera program.
Anyway......now that I have spent hours trying to figure all this out I can at least show you the one picture that was a little smaller. This is a bit of an experiment for me so please be patient. I can't tell which of the three options I should be using. Should it be "url", "tag", or "img"? I'll try "img" here and see how it goes.

Well, it seemed to work in the preview, but now I have ANOTHER question for you. What is proper "forum etiquette"? Should I be putting the whole picture here or just providing a link?
Oh....the picture is of a pair of cotton-lycra socks made in the toe-up, magic-loop method. Wonderful stuff this yarn. It makes cotton socks with the recovery factor more common to wool.....no more falling down, misshapen socks. I can't remember the name of the stuff but I'll check at my LYS if anyone is interested. -Marlene- |

Thanks Laura for providing that link. My son's buddy just brought over a copy of Adobe Photoshop and I was able to copy enough to fill my needs. Thanks anyway. Tomorrow I will try to take some photos of my current WIP and get them linked here. I'd like to take them in natural sunlight and that will have to wait until morning.

Christina: I know how to upload a photo onto Snapfish, but I don't see where I get the link to add to a KR posting. Can you (or anyone) help? Thanks.

Every day a peddler pulled his cart of wool from his home to the village market. It was a long trip. He had to travel around the perimeter of a large lake that was owned by the town tycoon, a modernday scrooge. One day during the winter the lake froze over. The peddler realized that he could cut off 2 miles from his trip if he crossed over the lake. He was spotted halfway across the lake by the tycoon. Scrooge came racing out of his mansion and screamed at the peddler, "I’ll be danged if I let anyone pull the wool over my ice!" |

Marlene, Please oh please find out what that yarn is because my wool-allergic SIL wants socks and she'd LOVE that colorway. (Need to know that in case it's not stocked, oh please!) I love to see pics right in the postings, myself, but I wonder if it takes up too much "cyberspace".... Thanks! |

the password for guests is oftroy--same as the name..
i got 10 images up fine, but the site keeps bumping me off as i try to load more.. eventually i will get the image of the fair isle sweater up (its only a size 4.. knit in paton 'grace' mercerized cotton.. but pretty..
the lace detail on the Lion Brand Homespun is one of my own designs..
and the 'artichoke' sweater and thistle down hat (one photo taken indoors, one outdoors) are actually a matching set, (and the same color green--a bright kelly green.
enjoy. |

Kelly, sorry it has taken me so long to answer......I hadn't noticed the post until now.
The yarn is Cascade Fixation and I believe the colorway is "George". There is a rather poor photo here. It seems they left the plastic wrap on the balls they took photos of! http://www.redbarnfarm.net/cascadeyarn.htm
My ladies size 8 1/2 foot required one full ball per sock. I knit from the toe up and get about a 5 1/2" cuff before finishing the ball. They are the most comfortable socks I have ever made. They seem to get better with every wash. MACHINE wash and dry....I know myself too well to think I would ever wear handwash only socks very often!

| Thanks! Those are really crummy pictures for selling yarn with, aren't they? But it does look like the right one. I appreciate it. |
