Hi there. I have graduated from Hunter CUNY last year with a degree in French and Spanish literature, but now (as if speeaking 5 languages wasn't enough!) I am a student at Taybah Arabic Institute and I work full time. I knit since I was nine y.o.
Mew: I have a friend who lives in Burnaby. She graduated UBC this spring! ;)
To knit or not to knit? That is no question! |

I was an undergrad at Queens College. Couldn't decided on a undergrad major although I aspire to be a Physical Therapist (masters). So in September I start at the Swedish Institute to learn massage therapy. Then I'll go from there...

Someone should do a study of college knitters and see if there are correlations with grades, stress relief, and general information retention! I did my Master's thesis for an MS in Library Science on services to romance readers in public libraries (obviously had to read romances for research!)...so I know we can get knitting into the curriculum somehow!!
I only began knitting in the last semester of my master's studies, but the knitters were just getting together to officially form a knitting circle when I graduated. And that group was just within the library school, so I bet the number of knitters on campus was substantial. I attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Good luck finding knitting undergrads! I wonder if undergrads now are as distracted by just keeping up with social and peer pressure as they were when I was there. If so, college undergrads may be the best candidates to be knitters (to handle the stress) and the least likely to actually do it. Knit in public on campus, see who approaches you! (be brave)

Hum, college undergrads love to knit instead of studying. And to search yarn to do the nextproject! I SHOULD be studying !!! At my university (Laval in Quebec City), we have a lot of knitter, but none knitting circle...Too bad! Argh, I think I have to stop my computer right now! I hide my knitting.... |

I'm a freshman and planning to major in English.
Anyone here allowed (or daring enough) to knit during classes? I haven't gotten the nerve to yet (though I'm tempted to during Phil102, not like I'm learning anything), though I do sneak it into the library and knit between classes. |

| ok so im not in college anymore, but i just graduated last spring and still feel like im in college :) except no classes, haha. i went to Kalamazoo College in Michigan, majored in economics. never brought the knitting to class (although i DID bring my pet hermit crab to class to keep me entertained....the teachers never knew). but we were required to go to a bunch of lectures outside of classes so i brought little knitting projects to those, like coin purses, etc. gotta sit in the back, they'll never know! |

I'm still in college, an art and business student. I should be graduating this year, but I took several years off to work and experience things. I started knitting etc. when I was 6 and would like to do work in textiles. Nice to see we have so many college enthusiasts! :)
