Hello,
I'd like to post a photo of the first pair of socks I've knitted on this forum - but I can't work out how! The nearest (?) thing I could find in the FAQ refers to "hyperlinks" - which I assumed meant you had to have a blog (which I don't) - am I misunderstanding this?
I have digital photos on my computer - just don't know how to get them on here.
Thanks, Honor |

The quick answer is "you don't" - the people that put photos and other images into their posts have a separate site (be it blog or some other way they may or may not pay for) then put the address for the image at that site into their posts here.
Knitter's Review isn't an image host or server, and doesn't have that option. If you find another host for your photos, the process is then similar to adding a hyperlink.

Lucina,
You may want to start a BLOG...it seems to be popular and people seem to enjoy it. However, if you are not a techie or don't have the resources to do it I'll be happy to help you. (host a page on my site) so you can post your pictures.
To be clear...I am NOT saying I will charge you for anything...I'm saying I will gladly put your photo up gratis as I have a ton of space and I'm happy to share with a fellow knitter
Just send me an email if you'd like to take me up on the offer.
Thanks Wendy

I use tripod. They have a photo album that is free and very easy to use. You may want to check that out. Looking forward to seeing your pics!
Take care! Brandy

I believe there is information in the FAQs about images.
Basically, you have to host your photos elsewhere, since KR won't keep the actual photo file on their servers. Then you can use the forum code to insert an image link into your message like this: <img>whateveryourimglinkis</img> You have to replace the <> that I used above with square brackets [] in order for it to work on KR.
For hosting, you can use one of the photo hosting services. I use photobucket (free and easy!), others use flickr. I know there are others, but I can't remember the names. When you upload your photo to the hosting service, they will give you the source code. You want to use the "img" code for Knitter's Review.
There aren't any bandwidth problems with KR, because the photo isn't stored here. Yes, it shows up on the KR page, but that's only computer magic.
Because several KR members have dial-up access, those of us who post picture links try to keep it to a minimum, and to include something in the topic heading to let people know that there's a picture there.
Putting in too many pictures can cause slow loading for people with slow connection speeds.

Also, be sure that your photo isn't too large. You can resize your photos free with Irfanview. I use Digital Image Pro.

Thank you very much everyone for your helpful suggestions. And thanks especially for your offer, Wendy! I have sent you an email.
I'm not sure if I want a blog, altho' I know it would be fun. I already spend far too much time on the web, esp. this site.... I will probably use one of the hosting services next time I have some pictures to post. Thanks again to everybody, Honor |

Shelia's right, those are very nice photos. I wish I had a garden to 'pose' my knitting in. My background tends to be my black duvet cover.

Beautiful socks, beautiful pics! My pics usually have the (now empty and hopefully being fixed without costing us thousands) pool or deck in the background. I can knit, but compose a photo...not so much.
