Hmm, definitely not as good as the last couple issue, IMHO. Darn, and this mag was on such a good streak too! Oh well, definitely glad that I've decided to buy pattern magazines individually and only if there's something I want in it.

I like the light blue cardi with the b-b-b-bobbles (maybe it could be made sans bobbles?).

Yeah, those bobbles are kind of horrifying, but the cardi isn't that bad, otherwise.
I don't mind the sweater coat, and at first I thought the pullover from Winter Wonderland would be okay, but then I realized that if it gives that poor size 0 a giant uniboobloaf, it would be most heinously unkind to anyone with even the approximation of a rack. |

That pullover would have been fine if they'd ended the braided cable stuff a few inches higher, clearing the bazoobas! Did a *man* write that pattern!?!?
I'll be paging through the issue for a closeup of the brown shawl-with-arms thing in "designer attitudes". Like it or hate it, it's starting to look to me like cardigan-shawl things are going to be the new "poncho" for 2006. Lopi 25 has another take on the concept, and...I don't know, eventually I may not hate it.
The retro-checkerboard scarf is cute - thinking for my own rugrats in a smaller size. I'm also kind of intrigued by the sweater to the right in the next pic - the one with the colorful...flying saucers? Teacups? Or maybe it's not a project at all, just something from wardrobe picked to go with the goofy hat. Speaking of which, I want to photoshop that whole nightcap topper out of the otherwise-perfectly-nice Andean earflap hat. It's a like a hat with a birth defect. "What's that extra appendage?" "Shhh! You'll hurt the hat's feelings."
One other interesting bit: looking at that last "frosty ladies" cardigan with the mega pompom, I'm thinking, "Yep, guess I know where displaced FCEK staff went off to!" I mean seriously, does that photo not scream FCEK? |

I just love all the emphasis on cables that this issue has. Especially the blue/green one. I will probably pick this up soon.

| Nothing terribly exciting for me either. Maybe one of the hats. I guess I'll have to really look over it when I get my issue. Of course I haven't made anything from the magazine yet and I've been getting it for a few years now. Maybe VK just isn't right for me. |

I think this issue looks fabulous! I love textured knitting and I would love to make the pullover from the winter wonderland section. The hats are really cute, too.
Cheers,

Took a look again at the preview and am getting intrigued with the brown shawl/cardigan (shardigan?) and might have to see about that. But not in brown.

Forgot to mention that I might buy the magazine just for that red cabled shell in "designer attitude".
And one other thought: back when Teva Dunham's "Loop de Loop" was new out, I recall discussions here and in the Amazon.com reviews of the "scary" factor with the models - even from folks who - like me - really liked the book. (Particularly the model with the short angled from mid-back-of-head down to neck cut, that looked like she was the victim of a botched guillotining.)
Vogue is so into scary models themselves. There's the one who has to ring her eyes racoon-style in oh-so-luke-and-laura-disco-blue eyeshadow, and then the asian lady with the bad '80s hair day, who I fully expect to see on the "You Knit What?" site under the "Ho's Who Knit" sub-catagory. Must we continue to remind the knitting magazines that if you actually require the wooly weight of that one-button cardigan or the belly-baring aran, you're gonna be freakin cold without anything under it?
- She who will not begrudge the magazines their creative expression, so long as they don't begrudge their public's prerogative to laugh and point. |

I dropped my subscription but I'll probably buy this issue. Realistically, I only see myself completing the teal blue scarf (though not the matching cardigan. I do like the pullover in the Winter Wonderland section and the red shell (without pockets!)

I am in lust with that red shell. I think I'd make it without pockets, but I'm definitely looking forward to getting a closer look at it.
There are a few other items that I want to see up close; meh, I think VK for me is a lot like Vogue, the fashion magazine.. Only a handful of things I'd wear (if I could afford them - HA), but I love, love, love looking at all the clothing and admiring the texture, construction, shape, etc.

I love all three pieces in the deginer section, the cabled on top sweater in the Winter Wonderland, and the dress in the Under Construction (put your finger over her hair and it becomes more tolerable) - except as a sweater....most likely I'd not make it because I really really love the three sweaters in the designer section and would rather put my yarn dollars to those.
I'm much in agreement with WestCoastChica about loving to see the designs/textures/colors/flairs in the magazine. A lot of times, I'm inspired from those in my own designs.
