I think this is great!
I've learned a lot about pattern writing since I released that bugger, but I never seem to get around to putting up a better-formatted version. There are a couple things to note:
1) The shawl has NOT been test-knit with laceweight and size 4 needles. From what I understand from people who have made it, the finished shawl is VERY large (~70 inches long) and takes a little more yarn than stated: ~900 yards. I've been knitting a version with laceweight and size 2 needles, too - I really like the look at that gauge. You may wish to experiment on different needles as well.
2) If knitting with cobweb yarn, be aware that no one seems to make a 00 circular - mysteriously, I have a no-name circular that measures at exactly the right metric measurement, but I've never been able to find a commercial source. You can always, of course, knit the shawl on lace knitting pins - I believe Inox makes a lovely long steel set in 00.
3) The way the pattern repeat for the body is indicated can be a little confusing. The pattern repeat is outlined in RED - though the bracket might look a little short depending on how you look at it, and the gridlines on the chart might confuse you, pay attention only to the RED lines for the correct repeat.
4) As written, Chart B for the edging contains an error. The second-to-last stitch of rows 9, 11, 13 and 15 should be marked as a k2tog.
Happy knitting! I can't wait to see what y'all come up with. |

| I love this pattern, but I'm not sure I'm ready to plunge in. What yarns are you wave-knitters using? |

I'm probably going to use a laceweight on size 6 or 8 US needles. (moose lace - my standard)

I've been wanting to start this pattern for weeks and somehow never got around to it. Maybe the KAL will spur me on. The yarn I have picked out is laceweight wool angora from Just Our Yarn. It's a silvery gray/blue. I will probably try swatching on 2s or 3s. I think 1000 yds should be enough, right?
I'm also toying with the idea of adding beads, something I've never done. What do you all think about beads on the border? I am probably going to try the crochet hook method with size 8/0 seed beads. |

Eunny, I got your PDF pattern, and thanks, too. The yarn, is a very sweet lace weight colorway from The Fiber Denn called Love in the Mist.
Got needles? Now I'm not sure. That's a lot of variation. Should I just knit swatches? Can I join you? This will go slowly right? hehe [:00] I soooo need slowly right now.

I want to try Zephyr Wool-Silk.
Thanks for the updates on needle size and errata.
Haven't ordered anything yet.
Still struggling to do my first toe up short row heel sock.
I'm getting there...... Then I have to finish another sock, then start and finish another sock. Plus do my charity knitting....and of course play with the grandbaby..she's a doll at 7 1/2 months.

| I've never done a KAL before. Is there a site somewhere else, or is this very thread the KAL itself? |

I'm in! That shawl is gorgeous I just have to pick a color and order yarn. Do we set a start date so everyone interested has time to gather supplies or how will this work? I could probably get my act together to start July 1st.
It is easier to be forgiven than to receive permission. |

I have some hand dyed, hand spun alpaca that I am thinking of for this pattern. It is still drying, so I haven't swatched yet.

I am hoping to have a couple FO's soon - because I would like to knit this one up --- and I'm out of needles!

| Do you think this pattern would look good in mohair on size 4s? I've got some Fleece Artist I'm trying to find the perfect pattern for :) |

| Folks - I'm ready. I got my yarn - Misti Alpaca laceweight in a kind of neutral grayish green. I was totally planning to use light sport weight Beaverslide, but I finally came to my senses. You know, just because I love a particular yarn doesn't make it right for EVERY PROJECT. The real aid was that I found another beautiful pattern for which the Beaverslide will work beautifully. So now I can have my cake and eat it too, I guess. Anyway, have yarn, have pattern, have needles, will knit. |

If I remember right the pattern starts at both ends and is grafted in the center. Couldn't you also start it in the center with a provisional cast on and knit it from the center out? Then you wouldn't have to graft it.
Just wondering how that would be.
