I have been waiting for this book and today I went to BN to get it. I must say Wow! In short, this is my favorite in years, and I have read and bought many.

There is a detailed analysis on my blog (April 19, book review), but in short, there are a few things worth mentioning:
1. The size. Totally different from Twinkle's Big City Knits, this book has sizes running from XS to XL.
2. The design. They are stunning, almost all of them.
3. It's an eye-candy, pretty layout, in Interweave Knits (old) style so it is convenient to use.

Gals, go check it out!

Oooh, thanks! I definitely will. I was very curious about that book (I love Karabella yarns) and I am glad to hear it's as fantastic as I'd hoped.

Hi Iris, May I ask, what sort of designs are featured in this book? Are they fashion pieces? Are they glamourous things?

After reading these posts (and Iris's nice review), I popped over to the KnitPicks website to look at the book, and all I can say is--wow. There are some gorgeous designs in there (click on the view more images button under the image of the book to see a few).

This one is definitely going on my Amazon wishlist.

Hey Mermaid, they are everyday pieces with glamor and attitude, I'd say. Most are long-sleeved and sleeveless sweaters, and there are jackets and coats. There is also a pleated short skirt and a lacy sundress, several wraps/shrugs, some hat-and-scarf sets. The cover piece is a pretty little black dress.

Thanks for the link, gibsongirl! Some really beautiful things - all looked classic, but had that extra "thing" that says couture to me. I love the swing coat with the big buttons!

I received this book from Amazon this week and really like it. The only drawback I would mention is the sizes max out at about 40" or 41" chest measurement.

Iris and Friends;
Thanks for the added info. Seems very nice. For me the sizing would be a problem, if I was knitting for moi. I think I would call them classic designs because I don't see them goping quickly out of style.

And by the way, Iris, your pencil sketch cami on your blog looks really great. And fits beautifully.

Based on the reviews given on this book, I ordered from Amazon and received it yesterday. To echo the comments here, 'WOW!!" What a great book. I'm so glad I got it. There are many, many items I want to knit (after I finish the eight pair of socks, one sweater and the lace project I'm doing for my LYS).

I buy loads of technique books and almost no pattern books, but I picked up a copy of this one on eBay because of the comments on this thread. I leafed through it quickly, bookmarks in hand, and ran out of bookmarks before I was halfway through. The patterns are fresh, sophisticated and generally wearable (the dresses and skirts require a tauter body than I have, but that's true of almost all knitted skirts and dresses).

The originality of these designs lies in their proportions, construction and texture, rather than elaborate colorwork. They are definitely not basics but I think they are timeless.

I wish there were a broader size range. Working with mainstream ready-to-wear designers, Karapetyan knows that there are plenty of broader broads out there. So the decision to call 41" "extra large," is puzzling. And many of these designs would look great on larger women. While it's not a major issue for me, I think it's worth writing a note to the publisher, Potter Craft; their consciousness could use raising.

I just discovered this fun and fascinating book recently. A good read indeed. Thanks for the review, Iris.

For those who enjoyed this book, you might also want to consider buying "Knitting Lingerie Style" by Joan McGowan. Another fun read.

I looked at the images on the knitpicks link, and love the three sweaters on the last of the pages, the circular styles. A few weeks ago I met a woman wearing that type of sweater, store-bought though she is a knitter, and instantly wanted one. Now I know where to get a pattern. Thanks for the heads-up on this book.
