I occasionally spend weekends at my sister's house in Bellmore, Nassau County.

Does anyone know of any good yarn shops out that way? I'm looking for "real" yarn shops, not hobby or craft stores.

Infinite Yarns on Main Street in Farmingdale. Beautiful yarns, great selection and a very nice owner.

Try the Knitting Corner in Huntington - Terry owns the shop and is very nice! The shop has just about anything you could want and alot of patterns, magazines and knit books. It is my favorite shop so far on the island.

It is easier to be forgiven than to receive permission.

Check out: http://www.knitmap.com/ for all sorts of yarn store ideas. I've heard from many people than Granny's yarn shop in Islip is really good, but haven't been there myself.

The Yarn Garden is a great yarn store on Old Country Road in Plainview. The store is family run. Great Yarns...Patterns & Help

Granny's is really the best..the friendliest shop I have been to, and I go to many stores..good selection and easy return policy.
