Hi Jonathon, My name is Jenny and although I'm a year later, welcome to the Hudson Valley! I lived near Albany for a while, actually in Waterford, but moved about an hour south when my husband got a better paying job. As far as spinning and knitting goes, I'm not a spinner, knitting is more my thing. Have you heard of Countrywool? Ifyou haven't well you're in for a treat. Claudia is the owner, and she has supplies for both knitting and spinning. She is very knowledgable but one of the best things is that she has knitting and spinning retreats. I've been to two and if you ever get a chance you should try to go to one. Her shop is in Hudson, and her web address is www.countrywool.com There is also another shop in Chatham called The Warm Ewe. There are lots of lovely yarns there, too.
Take care, Jenny
