I have just knitted a sweater in wool/alpaca and it looks just as if I am using old knitting wool that has been re-wound. Does any one know how I can get it looking like it should. I have tried a trick given by a Canadian friend i.e. block the knitting then put it underneath a towel that has been washed, spun but not dried and leave it till they are both completely dry but it really didn't help much.

Thanks
Elizabeth

Soak it in warm water and gentle soap for about an hour. Spin the excess water out in your washing machine (turn OFF the water supply to keep it from spraying during the spin cycle). Block the sweater out to the right dimensions on a towel, and let dry.
