Reality check needed on this oldie (1992) but goodie that I'm finally trying to finish.

I'm at the point of picking up stitches for the front band. The pattern says to pick up 131 stitches. I might get 120 if I try very hard. No way around it, so I know I need to recalculate the button hole placement.

Has anyone else had this problem? This is mostly just curiosity. I'm working from the original pattern, so I don't know if there were any changes when it was republished.

Anne, I checked the most recent reprint of the pattern in VK Fall 07', it calls for 131 stitches to be picked up, same goes for the book from VK Designer Knits.
I knit this sweater last year, when I started it it was meant for me but one of my sisters laid eyes on it and loved it so much I knew it was really meant for her. One thing she asked me to do was to change the front closure to a zipper so I have no idea how many stitches are picked up. Sorry I cannot be more helpful.
