I just washed a fleece that has been aging in my garage since June. It's a Lincoln Corriedale cross, with a washed staple length of almost 6 inches, and just George-Us.
I am not sure what I want to do with it, but it is white with a nice luster, and am kind of thinking of spinning singles for knittin'.
But I spun up a bit last night on the spindle and it's screaming color knitting.....which of course implies dyeing. I was thinking of doing up 50-100g batches, dyeing them and then cross blending a bit for a heathered effect and spinning a bunch of colors to then do color knitting with. I have also been eyeing Jo Sharp's Tashkent for a while, which has appeal.
Sadly, the fiber is too coarse for close to skin wear for me.....I've seen babies with tougher skin than I.
