Remember Kris' big bag o' Rihivilla at the Retreat? I think he has almost every color, and plans a wonderful sweater. I'm pretty sure there was a little *ahem* link sharing after he discovered the website, so I've been yearning for a mitten kit, too!
I'm pleased that there are more dyers using natural dyes this way -- Have apple leaves? Dye with them, but do it well -- and the several shades of Indigo that Kris had in his bag of wonders were absolutely stunning. Not everyone can dye Indigo so well.
Thank you for sharing your discovery, Clara! Where in the world will you take us next?

I love the mitten kits too! I want Stripes and Trees. Shipping is about $11 though, so I'm waiting for a windfall profits day (ha-ha). Of course, if others were to order, I might be tempted to join the bandwagon... darn that slow stashing resolution!

Add me to the mitten kit fan. But I must finish this adult surprise sweater first. Must Must Must. buy later. Knit now.

That is gorgeous stuff. Why do I have a feeling that "slow stashing" is going to cost me?

Consider me enabled, I just ordered a Willow Herb mitten kit. She replied to my online order almost instantly. I've already paid via PayPal and she will ship on Monday morning. Oh, that was far too easy...
Luann (who is getting dirty looks from the Bohus knitting kit she ordered last fall, still sitting in its box with the Swedish postage stamps on it - Scandinavian sibling rivalry I guess)

If we can order several kits for the same shipping, I'd be happy to order with you.

Jeannine, I'm in the NYC/Long Island area. Unless you are nearby, one of us would end up shipping a second time, and I think postage savings would be lost. I do love the idea though, as I find it a total irritation that the post office stands in the way of my instant gratification with that mitten kit (and about a half-dozen works in progress, but we won't go there). LOL

Hi Tree,
You're right: the postage will get us one way or the other. And there are probably nice mitten kits on this continent. But those are lovely. |

No, you are not the only one! I contacted Leena (Riihivilla's owner), and hoping to order a mitten kit. She is finishing dyeing it. I can't wait to start!

You're not the only one freaking out. I've been coveting a mitten kit ever since I saw a post about her on moth heaven a year ago. Her patterns and colors are gorgeous.

My yarns came yesterday: they are gorgeous! The colors are so rich and vibrant! I could not resist and started the pair of mittens right away, even though I have another couple of VIPs looking at me with sorrow...

Mine came yesterday but I made myself wait until today to open it because I had something called "work" to do. Anyway - pix are on my blog. I'm going to start it tonight. Sorry Bohus kit, you must wait your turn...

Thank you, Clara, for revisiting this yarn. I love your reviews of yarn from spedific breeds, and this is no exception. Those mitten kits are so lovely and sooo tempting.

Did anybody have any problem ordering this Finish yarn? I was just looking for more sock yarn to make mittens, but this might just fill the bill.
