This pattern has a band of ribbing knitted on the end of half the collar that goes all the way around one sleeve. (Yes, under the arm. I love it! ). You knit a flat piece for the collar, and then cast on a lot of stitches to knit the ribbed band in the round. My question:
Which cast-on should I use? I'm thinking BCO, because cable CO seems to be too firm. Or, is there something else? I'm concerned that BCO might come out too loopy, but if that's the best choice, I could use some ideas on how to avoid loopiness.

I recently made a project where I had to cast on some sts for an extra bit. Normally I would use a cable cast on, because I thought it would be neater, but this pattern specifically called for a backwards loop, and lo and behold, the result was actually nicer than the cable CO.
So I would go for a backwards loop (if that is a BCO) since the result is actually a lot more pleasing than I would have thought. It is easier too, so maybe that plays a role as well.....
