Oh flicka! those are lovely and heart-grabbing photos of Afghan girls.
So good to see skate boards and swings and girls being active!
Thank you for the link!
I am working on mittens and socks for them.
Best wishes,
Anna

I was really touched by the photo collection. I had to look up what the red hands meant. I gather that applying henna to one's hands is a custom at an Afghani celebration. Also, little girl athletes always get to me, in a good way!
I'm knitting socks, too.

Nice to see other A4A knitters here. I'm knitting only A4A until late June. Have three hats and two pairs of mittens done. Going to start some heavyweight socks this weekend.
Thanks for posting the links.

I can relate to chemo caps having made a number. Also preemie hats since we had a preemie in the family. I made ten different kinds and the nurse said K2, P2 was the most useful.
Boring but useful. Likely for chemo caps (but throw in some color, too).

Hi, flicka! Any specific yarns & patterns for the hats?

There is quite a bit of leeway in choosing patterns, as long as you follow the guidelines for fiber, coverage, etc. The "Afghans for Afghans" group on Ravelry is really a treasure, answering all kinds of questions about whether items will be acceptable.
The recent campaign for mittens, hats and socks has ended, though, and there is no information about what will be requested next. (I'm hoping they will want baby blankets, since I have one ready to go -- started it for a previous campaign but didn't get it done on time.)
