By now you probably know that I have a thing for wool. The more breed-specific, the more detailed the story of its source, the happier I become.
So when UK yarn retailer Baa Ram Ewe sent me a package, and inside I discovered a new yarn that they're sourcing and spinning in the UK... containing Wensleydale, Bluefaced Leicester, and UK-sourced Alpaca... my tail really started to wag.
It's called Titus, and here's the review.

| This was a lovely post, I enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed getting the news about Titus. I am actually going to buy some even though I live in South Carolina and don't have many occasions to wear wool...and I don't want to give this away after seeing the final results blocked! Sweet! |

Bluelustrecat, you just made me realize how thankful I am to live in Maine and be able to knit with and wear all different fibers since our weather changes so drastically from Summer to Winter! Thanks! |

Oh Clara, your email came juuust too late. I live in the UK and was looking for an alternative to Loft to knit one of Brooklyn Tweed's lovely stoles. It's never easy to find an alternative yarn. I ended up buying some Rowan Felted Tweed. I sooo would have got this based on your review.

| Thanks for this review - I have two skeins of Titus in my stash waiting for that perfect project so I'm glad to know it knits and washes so well. By the way, just one little quibble - it's named after Sir Titus Salt, not Sir Walter Titus. Titus Salt when he built his woolen factory also tried to create a utopian town - he built good houses for his workers, the town library, church etc. The town is Saltaire named after him and is a World Heritage Site as it's a perfect Victorian preserved town. Salts Mill has been extensively renovated and now houses a gallery for David Hockney and several stores (although not, strangely enough a wool store). It does have one of the most beautiful and well-stocked bookstores though. |
