Am tired of using expensive yarn to knit the most adorable baby socks.....and they NEVER STAY ON THEIR FEET!!! No more...am done with that. They look cute but are completely impractical. Anyone have any great bootie patterns that actually stay on?
I know what you mean. I have had no success with ANYTHING staying on a baby foot. The closest I came were some basic booties that have a tie that goes around the ankle and the cuff goes at least half way up the calf. I can't point you to a specific pattern online but if you look around for some that look like that style they are the best kind I found.
I never have knit anything for the feet of my children when they were babies either. Nothing, and I mean nothing would stay on. Only when they were about 9 months old socks would start to stay on. They wore a lot of "troucers with the feet attached" to solve this problem.
I have knitted however a pair of Saartje's bootees (see www.saartjeknits.nl) as a present, mainly because they are so cute and also since they it is a real good left-over project.... Whether they stay on I don't know but they are so fast to make that you can always give it a try.
