| I just bought some Noro Kuryeon wool yarn to make a small felt bowl. Love the colors, hope it felts well. But, I was wondering are there any other good variegated wools out there not so expensive? |

Berroco has a yarn called "Jasper" described as: quote: a fine merino wool roving spun of pre-dyed tops and engineered to create a unique self-striping effect when knit. Its 8 fascinating striated colorways are reminiscent of its namesake stone, picture jasper. The colors seem to intensify when felted. Its soft hand and even stitch quality make it a favorite yarn for wool and natural fiber connoisseurs
MSRP about the same price as Noro Kuryeon, but it's available on eBay for less.

Hello, Here's a new varigated yarn that I discovered Kaleidescope by Elegant Yarns. http://www.elegantyarn.com/index0.asp?cid=321&loid=Kaleidoscope If you can't order from them I think someone on ebay sells it. (Yarntree House) There is a picture on my knitting blog of a bowl I knit with this yarn. I find that for bowls if using worsted you need to double it. Doubling Kureyon can be a chore....but the Kaleidescope was pretty easy match colors to double. More about it on my blog.
I used Jasper to felt some small pocket style bags and it felted beautifully. Again it would need doubling for a bowl to stand up on its own.

Don't miss Plymouth's Boku. It's similar to the Noro in colors, but less expensive. I heart ALL Plymouth yarns, I swear.

Manukanu Yarns "Charisma" 10 ply aran distributed by Valley yarns is a beautifully varigated yarn from WEBS. It felts wonderfully and so far doesn't pill at all. |

I just bought some Plymouth Boku from Pattenworks, got a couple of free patterns with it. One pattern was for a small felted purse. I havent used it yet, but I'm expecting it will work well. I agree with Rachel about Plymouth yarns, very reliable and reasonable. judy
