I have a rose and a pink which look very nice together. Quite a bit of the roving of each, actually. I want to blend them, but here's what I've found. If I card them together thoroughly, I get a mid-shade no feature boring bunch of fiber. If I use pink for one ply, and rose for the other, I get stripes. I don't really want stripes. Hints, anyone? Bold ideas? What if I blend in some white somehow? Okay, how? Please and thank you..... Carol |

How about carding them together not thoroughly (the "mid-shade no feature boring bunch of fiber" takes quite a lot of work, actually)? Somewhere here there's also a thread on how to blend roving without carding equipment - you might check that out. Or spin a bit of one, then of the other - that'll give you separate colours if you Navajo ply, or random changes (stripes, pure rose, pure pink) if you do a two-ply.
Whatever you choose, have fun! Klara

Carol, can you get your hands on Spin Off?? The Fall 2007 issue has a fantastic article dealing with just this topic! They do have the article posted on their web site..

Fantastic article!! With what you described, I am sure that one of her many examples will help you find the effect you want.
Also, you can try to spin from the fold vs worsted....that will change things alot.

Thank you both so much! I just knew someone at Knitter's Review would have answers for me. I read that Spin Off article, too. Now I have to try some to see what strikes my fancy. You are great! Carol |

Jen, you describe these moments as if they were colorful attributes of a fine wine! I want to try this blend for sure.
