I also have Zite and yes, I added the knitting section. I have some of the Interweave ebooks loaded into GoodReader. I also have KnitCompanion. Once I spent time with the tutorials, I found it to be an extremely useful app. Instapaper is another "read it later" app. I also use it for recipes. I also use Dropbox to store knitting patterns. Lasr but not lest, i use Blogshelf to keep up on knitting blogs.
The iPad has certainly changed my knitting life. |

Hi Lanea! I haven't seen you in ages!
I highly recommend KnitCompanion. It has a bit of a learning curve, but there are great tutorials and help files and the app support is great. It allows you to take multiple charts that may span several pages of the PDF pattern and stitch them together. Then there is a row counter that will now span all your charts. This is so great for those patterns like many Arans where you may have to knit across multiple charts in one row. You can download it for free to play with the included patterns to see whether you like it, but you have to buy the full version to be able to add your own patterns.
OT, but there is a great recipe app called Paprika. You can import recipes automatically from many websites, and those that don't work it's easy to add the recipe manually. It has a scaling tool, so if you want to make 1.5 times the recipe is changes all the amounts in the ingredients column. It has many other features. Take a look at it. |

I just downloaded Lucy Neatby's first knitting collection using KnitCompanion. I was slightly skeptical about electronic methods of managing charts, and happily surprised to see how well this program works. It's not necessarily the most elegant-looking thing, but the functionality is amazing. And I love having the video right there even without a wifi connection. I learned the Channel Islands cast-on this morning before I even got out of bed.
