Knitter's Review
August 20, 2009
summertime knitting with friends

How many major events began as a quiet conversation among friends with the words, "Wouldn't it be fun if...?"

Those same words led to the Sock Summit, a history-making sock-knitting extravaganza that took place in Portland, Oregon, earlier this month. I was there as a teacher, and this week I offer a pictorial look back at some of the event's most memorable moments.

In the Forum: Machine or Hand?
A situation recently arose at a yarn shop when a customer put her handwash-only project in her washing machine, but used the hand-wash setting. The results were disastrous, and she thinks the yarn store should refund her money. Would you trust your handwash-only projects to a machine, no matter how gentle the cycle claims to be?
