Knitter's Review

Mr. Sheep chews with his mouth open

What do actress Uma Thurman and I have in common? Why, we were both at the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck last weekend, of course.

I know that many of you couldn't attend, so I decided to bring the festival to you. Join me for a three-minute video romp through Rhinebeck.

This Weekend
Readers near Asheville, North Carolina, will want to head over to the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center for the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair. It has all the trappings of a great fiber event, including a huge vendor marketplace, ongoing demonstrations and workshops, animal shows, and a skein and garment competition.

In the Forum: Guessing Needle Sizes
Susan likes to make thick, warm blankets for her friends—but she doesn't like to swatch. She wants to know if there's an easy, swatch-free way to figure out what needle size to use when knitting with more than one strand of yarn. Do you know the answer? Or can you help me convince her that swatching isn't a four-letter word?
