Knitter's Review

Nestle Cowl

Ever have so much fun swatching that you just can't stop?

This week I was playing with Techno, a fascinating new concoction from Blue Sky Alpacas. It contains delicate baby alpaca that is literally blown into a silk mesh, then stretched and rubbed to appear very much like a singles.

Even after I finished my review of Techno, I couldn't put down the yarn. Stitches inspired other stitches, which soon became tiny cables and simple ribbing, and before I knew it, my Nestle Cowl was born. You can find the pattern on Ravelry or buy it here.

This weekend in Ohio
Just 42 miles east of Columbus, Ohio, in Newark, the Mid-Ohio Fiber Fair takes place this Saturday and Sunday at the Reese Center of Central Ohio Technical College. More than 30 vendors will be on hand, including Briar Rose Fibers and Persimmon Tree Farm. Classes on everything from nuno felt to rigid heddle weaving, beading, and double knitting are scheduled and require no pre-registration.

In the Forum: Sock Yarn Regrets
We began talking about this in May and your comments keep on coming. Let's learn from one-another's misfortunes. What sock yarns will you never use again, and why?

Happy knitting, and I'll talk with you next on (yikes) September 1st!
